8-Lines


While he stood staring at her, she focused on his big, dark eyes that were locked onto her; making her feel anxious about being caught in his spell.

Their navy depths appeared unfathomable, like the deepest part of a lake or a stormy sea.

Her skin chilled, causing her to shudder, and that made her suddenly recall the words a friend had spoken about the man of her dreams.

“His eyes,” her giddy friend had cooed. “The second he looked at me, my whole body started to quiver and I just knew.”

Aware that something similar was happening to her, Kaisa rolled onto her side and crossed her arms at her chest, giving that man her back.

Her heart beat a mad rhythm that pulsed inside her ears, helping to drown out the emergency room noises and that no-longer-reassuring breaking news bulletin.

She could feel heat radiate off her face, making her want to fan herself for relief, but she didn’t dare when she could also feel the hot guy’s presence still behind her.

“You have no idea how glad I am to see you again.”

Hello, again. Sorry about missing last week's challenge (Favorite Novel Quotes) AND not being able to read or comment on the posts from the week before! I don't know what happened, but not only couldn't I open the MFRW Author Blog page to find the links, the links refused to appear on my blog, so I had no way of joining the hop and was very upset. Last week's challenge was not something I would have been able to participate in since I'm not one to quote anything... because I can't remember what "I" said ten minutes ago, much less what I read ten years or months or hours ago. MY total recall is along the photographic line; not the literary. My son can watch a movie ONCE and then verbatim quote it for years after, leaving his mother in awe of such a skillful talent! Ideally, He's What I Want - #MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge

However illusory the ideal may be, it is the one that, more than any other, drives the psyche of the Romantic poet forward. Wordsworth's Ideal Man Welcome back, friends, to Week 19 of the MFRW Author 52-Week Blog Challenge. This week, we're asked to describe The Ideal Romance Hero . I write AND read romance, but that doesn't mean I feel confident or sure about my response, and I needed to give this one some serious thought prior to setting fingers to keyboard. Alpha or Otherwise, Dark or Fair, Young or Old, Rich or Not, a Hero in any Romance novel needs to be a few things, and for me that mainly consists of MY idea of the Perfect Man. But, not entirely.
